Carberry Collection of Caribbean Literature

Rhys, Jean. Good morning, midnight. Barbara Brown (designer); H.D. Carberry Collection of Caribbean Studies; University of Illinois at Chicago. Library. Special Collections and University Archives.CARLI Digital Collections, the repository for digital content of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois, has made many images available from the Carberry Collection of Caribbean Literature. This is a series of books (many with intriguing and vivid cover art) collected by H.D. Carberry and now housed at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

According to the collection description here,

Collected over the period from the 1940’s through the nineties by Jamaican nationalist poet and Supreme Court Justice H.D. Carberry, the Carberry Collection is comprised of 1000 volumes, two thirds of which are literature and about one third history and politics. Almost all of these volumes are first editions and some of the literary works are inscribed. Despite wide distribution at the time of publication and often multiple reprint editions of especially the literary works, a large number of these volumes are now out of print and unavailable.
