Celebrating Tennessee Williams’s 100th Year

Tomorrow, Nov. 1st, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts will host a discussion (in the Studio Theatre) of Tennessee Williams’s early career, including the play Battle of Angels (which is scheduled to be performed at Krannert in coming days).

Thomas Keith and Charlotte Canning will be speaking. Keith was an editor of Williams’s work for New Directions; Canning is Head of the MA/PhD Programs in Performance as Public Practice at the University of Texas at Austin.

Williams’s play Battle of Angels was first produced in 1940; the play was the precursor to Williams’s later Orpheus Descending (itself later adapted into Sidney Lumet’s film The Fugitive Kind). You can read more about Battle of Angels, including a schedule of upcoming performances and a synopsis, at Krannert’s page for the play.

Tomorrow’s Friends of Theatre discussion is free and open to the public: read more at Krannert’s page for the event.
